LOTD ~ Bad girl and a Sabertooth

Meow Cosmetics looks continue. I wanted something more natural than what some of my tries have been since I knew I'd have to go downstairs to advisory services and actually serve some customers. Usually I'm teaching upstairs so I don't come across that many customers.

Eyeshadows used:
Skinny Bitch - brow bone
Sex Object - inner lid
Bad Girl - mid lid
Sabertooth - outer lid

Also used Gosh Velvet Touch eyeliner in Hypnotic Grey.

Lips are a mix of Evil Shades' Diana's Bow lipgloss and Oriflame Golden Bronze lipstick.

I also went to library after work since my sister was working there for a day (she usually works on another library). I had time to raid hard rock section and found great CDs I need to listen to and then get them to my mp3 player (which is also my phone).

Paradise Lost - Paradise Lost and Icon
Candlemass - Candlemass and Death Magic Doom
Swallow The Sun - The Morning Never Came
Hypocrisy - Catch 22
W.A.S.P. - Babylon

Meow Cosmetics - Sex Scandals swatches.

I haven't tried these yet so thought I'd like to see what they look like on my skin before putting them on my lids. So here are the swatches of the whole collectiong.

With flash (above) and without flash (below)
Upper row: Traci L., Ingrid B., Monica L., Vanessa W., Heidi F.
Lower row: Debbie L., Sally H., Sayuri, Anna S., Mia F., Pamela A.

I like Sayuri, Heidi F., Vanessa W., Debbie L., Anna S. and Pamela A. with swatches. Will have to check what they look like on my lids.

Then I started to think who are all of these people. Some I recognize but most I don't. Just curious, that's all. If you know please inform me so I can fill up the list:

Traci L. - Traci Lords
Ingrid B. - Ingrid Bergman
Monica L. - Monica Lewinsky
Vanessa W. - Vanessa Williams
Heidi F. - Heidi Fleiss

Debbie L. - ?
Sally H. - Sally Hemings

Goth/Metal/Alternative Easter Ideas.

We don't much celebrate Easter in my household except for eating chocolate eggs - which we've been eating for a long time already. But for you that want a bit different ideas from normal I will show you some out of the ordinary things I came across online for Easter.

Starting with...

Chocolate eggs

Who didn't guess it would be first? Honestly I found the best chocolate eggs for a metalhead like myself.

Metal Mania Chocolate egg
Available only on selected stores in Finland. Bought them from Anttila. 3 of us got a a badge with either Metal Mania or skull on it. One got skull mobile phone jewellery.

Painted eggs

I bet most of us have painted eggs but found few newer - or less new - ideas from the net.

Black eggs with faces

Dragon eggs

Decoration

Tulips are available in many colour and they usually mark the coming of spring.
Lilies and especially calla lilies - my favourite flowers - can be found in dark colours.

(This was my wedding bouquet made out of dark red calla lilies)

What to do?

If you love murder stories you can go all Norwegian since apparently they love those kind of stories around Easter. These stories are called Påskekrimmen or Easter Thrillers (not translated straight). So grab your favourite Agatha Christie - or any other murder story - and have fun Easter with the book.

In Finland (also in Sweden and Denmark) kids run around dressed as witches collecting candy and sometimes money door-to-door and giving a decorated pussy willow in return. This happens - already happened for this Easter - on Palm Sunday. People still have the decorated branches in their house since the twig doesn't really die.

(My daughter did this in daycare)

How about some spanking? According to Wikipedia: "In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, a tradition of spanking or whipping is carried out on Easter Monday. In the morning, men spank women with a special handmade whip called a pomlázka (in Czech) or korbáč (in Slovak)... The spanking is not painful or intended to cause suffering. A legend says that women should be spanked in order to keep their health and beauty during whole next year."

Food

Usually people eat lamb in Easter but if you want to try something else how about these other countries' traditional Easter foods:

Finland - Mämmi (it looks like s*it but oh well, find more info from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A4mmi)
Russia - Pashka (spelt Pasha in Finnish since Pashka is too close to Paska which is s*it for Finnish, that's not valid reason tho but glad we changed the name, more info again from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paskha_%28meal%29)

Or just try rabbit instead of a lamb... or go vegetarian.

I have one day left of work and then I'm off of work until Tuesday next week.

LOTD ~ Peaches and Wine

My first look using Meow Cosmetics eyeshadows and I fell in love with them. They are so pigmented (at least the ones I used) and blend nicely enough.

Make up used:
Skinny Bitch - inner lid
Adventurous Prrl - mid lid and blending upwards
Caterwaul - crease and blending upwards

Gosh Eye Liner Pen in black
Gosh Extreme 2Step Volume Mascara
Avon True Color blush in Coral Myth

Urban Decay Summer 2010 new items.

So Urban Decay's new items for summer 2010 were today revealed. And I found few that I'd like to try from them.

De-slick in a tube
It’s time to take control of your oil and put your matte face forward. Our lightweight gel performs anywhere, anytime: dab it on all day for touch-ups without ruining your perfectly applied makeup. It’s completely color-neutral, so it works great on naked skin, under foundation, or over makeup. Formulated to help tighten pores for a youthful, shine-free finish. De-Slick even works to keep skin matte under hot studio lights and in the muggiest of heat (so you know this addicting formula provides fierce absorbing action.)

De-slick oil control makeup setting spray
When the oil production of your face rivals a small OPEC nation, you need a mighty ally. De-Slick uses an innovative oil control system that both absorbs excess sebum and controls surface shine. The problem-solving formula mists on, feels weightless, and sets makeup so it lasts ALL DAY.

De-Slick contains powerful temperature control technology, which keeps your makeup from melting down when it’s warm and humid, and dehydrating when its cold and windy. Imagine makeup that looks like you just put it on, even through moisture, wind and heat.

Its light dispersing particles deflect shine and deliver a matte look for up to 16 hours. And if that weren’t enough –It’s allergy tested, dermatologist tested, free of oil, parabens, and fragrance, vegan and always cruelty free.

Urban defense tinted moisturizer SPF 20 in Halo
Hate fussing with heavy foundation, but need something that really performs? Seek protection with our Urban Defense. This formula is free of oil, parabens and fragrance, is loaded with our multi-mineral complex, battles free radical damage, AND has SPF 20… watch out! Even better, its light-diffusing pigments diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, providing a youthful finish. Since it’s buildable, Urban Defense always has just the right amount of tint… wear it alone for light coverage (great for warm outdoor weather) or under powder for an extra polished look. Apply Urban Defense after your cleansing/toning ritual and you’re ready to face the day with moisture, sheer coverage and SPF 20 at your service.

Don't know how they'd work but want to keep my face matte and make up light for summer.

Other new items included Summer of Love makeup palette (three sun-kissed neutral shadows with purple), Summer of Love nail kit (in 7 shades: Shine On (beige sparkle), Woodstock (radioactive pink), Love Light (baby pink sparkle), Hashbry (bright orchid), Magic Bus (emergency orange), Aquarius (electric teal), Psychedelic Sister (bright coral)), 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in Eldorado (gold), two new Pocket Rocket lip glosses (orange-red and pinky-nude).

Bad Make Up Day.

Yeah, I had one. I usually don't get anyway more than 20mins for doing my make up so when you have to remove make up mid-way of doing it just doesn't give much time to screw the other try too. I wasn't even close to satisfied with my today's make up but I had to leave to work anyway it on.

I would love to show you it still but since Picasa has problems I can't upload pictures... but since I just realised that I can, I will upload them to my imageshack and link here. Wanted to do some update even if uploading pictures doesn't work properly.

So yeah, used Evil Shades' Mysteria and Banshee, I like the colours really but everything else was wrong. Pictures are also taken after my work day so there's smudging of Zero and I don't look too fresh.

Should do something constructive but no idea what, took a 3h nap which is a lot even for me that could sleep 24/7.

Could eat... Hopefully Picasa gets its act together and starts to work soon.

NOTD ~ Glittery New York

For today's nails I used Mavala's New York (creamy grey) and BeYu's 393 (silver glitter).

I was in a shopping centre today and managed not to buy anything for myself, only for my daughter. Bought her a hat, gloves and leg warmers. They were all on sale so couldn't resist. Have to wait for next weekend to get her back home so can see if she likes them.

Also I have birthday in a month and I thought I could do a very first giveaway to celebrate me turning 27 - even if that's not much to celebrate. I will be off myself for the whole week surrounding my birthday so will have to think when I'll start and end it.

LOTD ~ Erinnye in a Coffin with Venom

As you guessed, another Evil Shades look with eyeshadows mentioned on title. Only one look left from Evil Shades and then I've tried all eyeshadow samples I ordered. And then I can think of what I want in full sized jars.

And as you know there was Earth Hour yesterday. Just showing what it looked like from my bedroom window.

As much lights as normally. Don't even think there were less in the building windows. And snow reflects still the light so it was quite bright outside despite being cloudy and 8:30pm.

I also managed to wake up this morning with half of my neck stuck and couldn't turn my head without having a horrible pain on the neck. It's getting better but still hurts. I have memory foam pillow so no idea how I managed to get it like this.

Hope you all remembered that we left winter time! Maybe summer comes after all.

MAC - Look in a Box Collection - Gothette

Surprise, surprise I'm going to post this one from the 3 different look in a box collections. Others are Indie Girl and Goldie Rocks but for me they were too plain.

These are available now only on Dute Free Stores/Travel Retail Locations.

Retrospeck Eyeshadow

Nihrida's Art-ish Giveaway

Nihrida is having a fantastic art-related giveaway here: http://nihrida.blogspot.com/2010/03/art-ish-giveaway.html

The main prize is a drawing of a person of your own choice - family member, celebrity or whoever you can think of.

You can also buy ready-made drawings from her Etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/nihrida

The giveaway is international and open until 16th April.

LOTD ~ Homegrown S&M

This look was inspired by UD's Moon Spoon look. But since I don't have either of those colours I thought I could use Vorpal (S&M) and Absolem (Homegrown) from AIW palette. I didn't want to spend rest of the evening without make up since it's only quarter to seven here.

My other eye is getting really sensitive for all the make up today and especially removing them so gave up trying anymore new looks today.

MUG Plumeria inspired contest entry #1

So I thought of tackling the plumeria inspired make up since I'm home alone and don't really have anything better to do (I should clean up but...) than play with make up.

Make up used both on eyes and flower on my cheek:

Make Up Store microshadow in white
Pink, yellow and orange from 96 palette
Turquoise eye pencil by Wet'n Wild
White eye pencil by H&M

Luminelle Deligloss in Rouge Framboise (no idea where I got this lipgloss, looks like something that came up with some magazine)

Dying my hair - Garnier Nutrisse Creme in 76 Nectarine

I just had to dye my hair. They were getting really boring colour. I loved the light orange-y colour that I had but this time didn't want to bleach my hair before putting on another dye.

This is bad picture for showing just how horrible my hair were looking this morning. Roots were dark blonde, orange had faded to yellowish blonde with patches of brighter colour. I'm naturally blonde with red pigment on my hair so dying my hair with anything that has even slightly gold, copper or red will give me brighter red than intended.

I had to play with photoshop to get my hair dye as washed out as it was. Camera somehow makes my hair look redder than they actually are.

I used the dye I bought a week ago but just haven't gotten myself around to dye it. In Finland this colour is Nectarine 76 Dark Blonde Red Copper.

Me with the dye on.

After washing the extra dye off.

And photo of dry hair that really doesn't show what my hair dye is. It's more like the one in the wet picture but not as red. And it isn't even a bit orange-y nor does the colour get lighter towards the ends. I hate flash making the colour show up too bright red.

So I tried other settings for taking pictures and this one came closest. The hair colour reminds me of dark mahogany. Darker than on the cover of the hair dye box.

Darker than I thought and would've liked but then again at least it's red again. And if I want to I could try bleaching next time. When the sun finally decides to shine it will bleach my hair on its own.
